![]() | For the 2025 growing season we awarded 45 unrestricted micro-grants, $500 each, that farmers used for equipment, space, seeds, infrastructure, gatherings, educational courses, certifications, materials and more. If you applied this year and did not receive funding, we encourage you to apply to next year’s Cultivator’s Fund! We are so grateful for the interest and energy all of our applicants offered in this year’s process. |
We are excited to learn more about how the Cultivators Fund is useful to our community! We are connecting with Cultivators individually through virtual and in person visits to see the important work being done on their farms. Thsee connections and visits allow us to highlight the amazing work farmers of color do, to fundraise for our next cycle of grants, and to give new ideas for what the funds can be used for. |
History of the Cultivators Fund Through our work as farmers, knowledge holders, community connectors, we are helping heal climate change and food apartheid. When we have emergent needs in our work, we need quick & accessible support. This fund began in 2022 as a way to help support our farmers with
critical, early season investments each year. In 2023 MFCC gave
out 19
mini grants, contributing to things like soil improvements, fencing,
value added product development, seed purchasing and more. Since the
creation of the Cultivator's Fund, we have continued to spread the word,
increase funding, and provide critical support to Farmers of Color
across the Midwest. |
