A PLACE FOR US TO CONNECT, GROW & BLOOM

Since our original convening, there was a call for an accessible, up-to-date directory of and for farmers of color.  In response to this call, we planted the seeds for what has bloomed into our Midwest Mapping Farmers of Color Project. This project has allowed us to deepen connections, foster networks of care & safety, and promote mutually beneficial knowledge amongst the collective.

The Mapping Project was developed by co-founder Sophia Benrud Nybroten and supported by Folasade Adesanya. Sophia and Folasade visited Midwest cities and counties to interview farmers, create intentional connections and develop personalized profiles to share about and highlight farmers' work.

Our directory and map are informed by surveys and interviews of our network farmers. To keep our directory growing and dynamic, we update it quarterly.

Currently, the map and directory include farmers of color in MN, WI, IL, MI, MO, IA, IN, OH, with future plans to cover the entire region!
